37 Years!

Next week starts our 37th year of offering our exclusive Clubs and Classes.

It all started with Bernina Club, which morphed into the SewVac Ltd. Sewing Club, and that spawned the plethora of Clubs and Classes that we offer now.

My, how time flies!

At any rate, there are a few Clubs where we need more members. Please be sure to see our current Newsletter and Class Schedule, check out the kind of sewing group that you’d be interested in, and be our guest! Attend any of the Clubs we are offering and see what happens. If you like what you see, become a member.

It’s easy, it’s fun, and you’ll have a great time! All Clubs will be meeting at the appointed times where we’ll see how attendance stacks up. Some of our Clubs where enrollment is needed are as follows:

Leni Herman has established her reputation facing the challenge of the Hoopsisters yearly projects.

Come and see what’s in store for this group in 2017, and be challenged; you’ll get your money’s worth! You’ll work with amazing designs, learn the layout of the project, and get tips and tricks for creating a gorgeous quilt.

This Club invites any person with any brand of embroidery machine to learn the project. Leni is well versed in multiple brands of machines so you will fit right in. Chances are you’ve spent a lot of money on your machine, so here’s where you’ll learn by “doing!”

2nd Saturdays through November (10:30a)
All About ME Club
Leni’s all-brands approach to embroidery is covered here in a more general way. This is a project-based Club featuring different embroidery each month – once again, for ANY embroidery machine.

By joining this Club you will learn the nuances of your machine and get comfortable with its operation. Learn to fully edit designs and program multiple designs. This Club is also about using the right thread and stabilizers. Get a new project with each class and learn how to make all types of embroidered applications work.

2nd Saturdays, through November (1:00pm)
Specifically oriented to all things Bernina, this Club is actually designed by Bernina Educators with projects based on all the amazing things Bernina machines can do. In this Club you’ll see Bernina produced videos showing the projects being created, then actually make the projects in the classroom.

You’ll get the latest information on new feet and accessories, re-discover some of the past accessories that have now been re-purposed, and enjoy a great group of Bernina aficionados while sharing fresh ideas.

1st Fridays, through November (6:00pm)

See All About ME above, only slanted with Janome in mind. In the past few years Janome has stepped ahead of the competition with wireless downloading of designs, a variety of hoop sizes, and an intuitive system that logically sets up the design for you! Learn hoop setting, experience the quick pattern downloads and editing features, and learn how to work your Janome and get embroidery down pat!

3rd Tuesdays, March – November (6:00pm)
Hearts Afire BoM Club

This Club will have you completing part of the Hearts Afire quilt each month. In this Club you will learn how to cut, size, and perform the applique on each part of this beautiful quilt.

Learn tricks with the Cameo, and actually sew out your design either on one of our machines, or on your own machine. This Club was inspired by Sandy and Leni’s Spring Sprouts class from last year. Hearts Afire simply takes sewing machine applique to the next level!

2nd Fridays, through September (6:00pm)
2017 Block of the Month

For the last 6 years this has probably been our most popular program; we’ve had as many as 100 people taking this once a month. Come and get your block of the month along with Sandy’s instructions to guide you through the process of making an inspired quilt.

This year we have 33 people coming in, starting the first Saturday in February, to experience making this magnificent quilt; the more the merrier! Not only do you experience the step-by-step approach to completing a family heirloom, but you get Sandy Szladek’s expert instructions and feedback; come and learn from the master!

1st Saturdays, through October (9:00am) OR
1st Mondays, through October (6:00pm)
Oh, Sew! Teen Club

Linda Jones has the young person in mind with this wonderful approach to not only learning how to sew, but what to sew!

This Club helps young sewists accomplish what they set out to by working on a project each month in class, with an emphasis on using the tools that make sewing great.

Calling all young (and young at heart) to this group to gain skills that will go with you forever!

4th Fridays, through November (3:45pm)
The Sewing Revolution

This is not a Club, but a two-day event for those wanting to take their personal sewing, quilting, and embroidery skills to the next level. It is a project-based sewing retreat where you just bring yourself, and let us provide everything else!

You’ll make projects based on centering, sizing, and creating applique and embroidery on Janome’s latest machines and see what it’s like to master new skills. Our Australian host, Kym Goldup-Graham, puts on both a show and a masterful class that you’ll really enjoy. Save the dates, February 21st and 22nd and make this experience happen!

We’re headed into Fabulous February – now is the time to activate your sewing imagination!
